Winter Solstice: Honouring the Dark

On the darkest night of the year, in the season when the days are shortest, and everything lies dormant in the silent earth, we pause, we move inward, and we carry the still, small hope that the light will return.

Winter is a sacred time of rest and reflection, the energy of winter is that of going within. It's the fruitful darkness and silence out of which our souls’ yearnings and new inspirations can eventually emerge.

Why do we spend so much time suppressing and hiding our darkness? When negative emotions come up, we feel them inconvenient, uncomfortable, or worse, we make ourselves wrong for feeling them.

When we fear our own darkness, we cut ourselves off from an essential source of our power. By allowing ourselves to feel our emotions and experience our own darkness, the darkness itself can become the nurturing space for transformation.

Would you join me on Dec. 21 for a time to honour the dark? There will be sacred readings of poetry, silence, an invitation to inner reflection, sharing, and an honouring of the space you find yourself in today.

Whether you are learning to see the gift that the dark can offer you, or you are wanting to experience holding light in the midst of your darkness, this time is for you
